What to do if your phone stops working
A. If CWD has not yet installed a Master Jack in
your premises.
Should a fault occur on a telephone line before a Master Jack has been
installed, please call CWD’s Fault Repair service at 611. CWD will restore
dial tone at no charge and install a Master jack so that, in the future,
you will be able to quickly detrmine the source of any fault with your
service. CWD will, however, not replace telephone instruments.
B. If a Master Jack is installed at your premises.
In the event that you experience loss of service (no dial tone) or hear
noise when attempting to use your telephone, you should try to ascertain
if your equipment or internal wiring is causing the problem. Please carry
out the following self check.
- Plug a telephone that you know is working into the socket labeled “TEST”.
Pick up the receiver and listen for a dial tone.
- 2. If you hear a dial tone, it indicates that:
- The CWD network is working OK
- The fault is either with your interior wiring or your other telephone
instrument(s).
You will need to call a qualified contractor or licensed electrician to
check your interior facilities.
- If there is no dial tone, or is there is a noisy connection, then the
fault is probably on the CWD network. In this case, please call 611 for
assistance. Your fault report will be recorded and the necessary action
will be taken to restore your telephone service promptly.
